The Western Reserve Railroad Association
(dba The Painesville Railroad Museum)
is dedicated to the restoration of the NYC Painesville Depot,
preserving railroad history and promoting model railroading.


Open Hours
May through October.
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 11 am to 3  pm
Fridays, 11 am to 3 pm  and  6 pm to 9 pm
1st & 3rd Saturdays of the month, 11 am to 3 pm


Membership Meeting are held second Tuesday of the month, 6 pm at Depot

Join the ladies of The Haunted Housewives for a paranormal investigation
 of the Painesville Railroad Museum (aka The Painesville Depot)
 on Saturday May 10, 2024 from 9:00 pm to Midnight! 
This historic building, built in 1893,
was used as a passenger depot up until 1971. 
Also check out the trolley from 1865.
This haunted building has more than its share of paranormal activity.
  Would you like to join a small group of investigators
 searching to discover the evidence to support that claim? 
This is a fundraiser and a $30 donation will be accepted. 
All proceeds from this paranormal exploration will go to the 
Painesville Railroad Museum,
the group responsible for saving this iconic piece of history.

The Painesville Railroad Museum (aka NYC Painesville Depot) is Hosting a
 Model Train Day with modular displays on Saturday, May 18th from 10 am to 4 pm..

 

See operating modular layouts in
‘N’ Scale, ‘HO’ Scale, ‘S’ gauge, ‘O’ Gauge and ‘G’ Gauge.

 

There will also be a model train flea market on grounds.
If you wish a spot to sell some of your extra train items,
a 10’ x 20’ spot is only $10.00 per day.
Vendors are responsible for their own table, chairs and tents.

 

Come to the Show and stay for the day.

Bring your camera and enjoy some time doing Railfanning!

Food and Drinks will be available.

Admission: $5.00 adult, $3.00 child (3 to 12 year old)

                $12.00 Family (max 2 adults, 3 children)

On April 20th, 2015 the City of Painesville has amendment the
Historic Preservation District Section 1146.03 and established
Railroad Street Historic Preservation District which includes Railroad Street and all property
 of the Western Reserve Railroad Association (dba Painesville Railroad Museum).

 

 

 

Lionel Experience and Event Center

Future Plans of the Painesville Railroad Museum including the Lionel Experience and Event Center. This 6,000 square foot expansion includes one of the most comprehensive Lionel Post War model train collections in the U.S. and an Event Center with seating capacity of 200 guest. The Event Center with a full commercial kitchen, will be available for hosting club meetings, off site business meeting, small weddings, and other social events.

This will be an interactive, historical and educational facility for all ages.

The project cost of this expansion is $3,200,000.00. We already have over $1,000,000.00 pledged. We are now in the process of looking for additional sponsors, no matter the size of the donation, to reach our goal.
The Painesville Railroad Museum is a 501c3 non-profit and all donation are tax deductible under the extent of the law.

First grant is Capital Improvement for our Boxcar
The Second Grant is Arts and Culture to offset the advertising of the Railroad Memorabilia Show

It is with great pleasure that we announce
that we have been awarded a $1,000.00 grant from the
Western Reserve Junior Service League
to complete the floor in our B & O Caboose.
This Grant will allow us to purchase the materials to
complete the floor in our 1927 B & O caboose.

It is with great please that we announce that the
Lake County Ohio Visitors Bureau has award us with a
Capital Improvement Grant for our new Engine Barn project. 
This is a very big help with us moving forward on this project.

It is with great pleasure that we announce that the Painesville Railroad Museum
has been awarded a grant for new folding chairs from the
Western Reserve Junior Service League

This grant enabled us to replace our current old wooden folding chair
with new cushioned folding chairs to match our new tables.

We wish to thank the Remarkable Lake County Visitor Bureau
for awarding us a grant of $2,700 for our Railroad Memorabilia Show
which will be held on August 26, 2018.

It is with great pleasure that we announce that the Painesville Railroad Museum
has been awarded a grant for new folding tables from the

has been awarded grants from the
Lake County Visitor Bureau Arts and Culture Funding program
 and
 
The Robert S. Morrison Foundation
for its
Railroad Memorabilia Show,
which will be held on August 27, 2017 from 10 am to 5 pm.

 
It is with great pleasure that we announce that on March 27, 2017,
The Western Reserve Junior Service League
has awarded us a $1,420.00 grant for the completion of our ceiling project in the main lobby.
This grant enabled us to complete the dry wall finishing of the Main Lobby Ceiling.
We wish to thank WRJSL with their continuing support of the Painesville Railroad Museum.

On January 24, 2017, we received a $1,000.00 grant
from Painesville Community Improvement Corporation (PCIC)
for new chandelier lights in the Main Lobby.
We wish to thank PCIC with their continuing support of the Painesville Railroad Museum.

 

It is with great pleasure that we announce that The Western Reserve Junior Service League
has awarded us a $3,000.00 grant for a new IT station.
This will allow us to purchase a new Lap Top computer, software, printer, projector, screen
